Members and staff began setting up our new premises in late February and then were excited to open the doors of Stepping Stone North to new members from the 18th of March 2024 in Chermside.
On 16th July 2024 Stepping Stone North was privileged to be officially opened by the Honourable Emma McBride MP, Australian Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, the Honourable Shannon Fentiman MP, Queensland Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women, the Honourable Bart Mellish MP, Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads and Minister for Digital Services and Member for Aspley, the Honourable Jimmy Sullivan MP, Queensland Assistant Manager for Justice and Veterans’ Affairs and Member for Stafford, and the Honourable Councillor Danita Parry, Local Councillor for Marchant Ward.
The Work Ordered Day (WOD) at Stepping Stone North quickly took shape and consists of two units: Nourish (Kitchen and Garden) and RAD (Reception and Administration). Here, members and staff work side by side to manage the daily operations of the clubhouse.
The Nourish unit oversees menu planning, budgeting, and preparing healthy meals each day, along with grocery shopping and cooking these meals for lunch at 12:30 pm. Our favourite meals include rice paper rolls, tacos, dahl, potato bake, different tossed salads, lasagne , and our most-loved Friday BBQ.
Breakfast is available daily from 8:30 am – 9:00 am and currently includes a choice of toast, muesli, tea, and coffee. Nourish also tends to the care and maintenance of an outdoor edible garden area, featuring 6 garden beds planted with fresh herbs and vegetables for use in daily cooking.
Within the clubhouse, the RAD unit manages finance and administrative tasks, including daily attendance, data entry, social media updates, networking and community engagement. A key responsibility of the RAD unit is conducting tours and orientations for new members interested in joining the clubhouse.
Members who would like individual support can book this in and receive support with NDIS applications, employment and education goals, housing and other needs.
We invite everyone to join our HALP (Healthy Active Living Program), which features lunchtime walks and sports on Fridays. We're fortunate to have access to the parklands right behind our clubhouse, serving as our natural playground. Additionally, our HALP promotes nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits.
Stepping Stone North’s Social Recreation Program is held on most Public Holidays. We utilise this time away from the typical clubhouse WOD to explore our community and participate in a variety of activities such as bowling and beach days at Redcliffe.
We would love to meet you, so if you would like to come in for a tour of our new Clubhouse at 88 Delaware Street, Chermside, we are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
